I haven't been able to delete my windows partition yet either. Sound Forge
and Sonar are just too important to me economically.

From the reading I've done, the apps that seem to have the most potential
on Linux are Glame and Ardour. As I haven't been able to get a gui working
with sound on my linux box yet, I don't know how well they work.

however, there is a big problem with multitracking applications that holds
true to the linux world as well, and I like to call it digi-envy. Every
application out there has the cignature of ProTools on it in some way, and
as a guy who went to windows to get away from digidesign's unreliable
proprietary garbage, I find that disheartening.

I'm been learning how to program recently, my self, and I'm thinking about
taking a crack at writing audio software for linux at some point, and I
think that may be the problem as Ken pointed out. Everybody and their
grandmother has started writing "The GIMP for Audio" and I'm starting to
think that maybe until someone at the FSF picks up the ball and starts
running with it, that probably isn't going to exist.
