My experience with SB Live is following: the A/D of the card which
comes at rear of computer is badly tuned -- plugging new tuner to it
caused bad overdrive distortions. One can, of course, reduce the input
gain but if that is simple digital gain multiply in Emu DSP chip (as
I believe it is) it doesn't help. This should be tested. Anyone?
The Drive at front panel of computer is better. The levels from tuner
are at -6 dB which might/should be the correct broadcasting level. At
least, there are no overdrive distortions.
Because of that I would not buy plain SB Live. Also, the front
panel is easier to use if one has to switch the input source.
