i tried that patch with different settings on SSM and the cpu load goes
down loads when i increase the latency (i was initially running it at
very low latency). couldn't get it much lower than 5-7% though.
.
i'm using a vanilla 2.4.17 + alsa--9beta12 snd-ens1370 with oss
emulation.

what version of SSM have you got? i've got 0.0.9

are you using the jack output plug or OSS? i'm using OSS
