hi everyone
thanks so much for your advice.... i'm reading in digest mode so forgive
my slowness ... ;-)
right, i think i've got something confused to start with, i *know* i
installed alsa 0.9... i've just managed to work out that my kernel src
from the original kernel is 0.5.12a... i knew i deliberately didnt use
the obsoleted version... hence the syntax of my modules.conf -
snd-cs4236 instead of snd-card-cs4236....
i think im tempted to have a go at installing the Cooker as an upgrade,
it seems simpler rather than tearing more hair out over config, although
part of me is determined not to let this beat me ;-)... so i will try
the other options for /etc/devfsd.conf, this looks interesting... and
deleting the original 0.5 modules...
my version of alsa that i have installed is actually compiled into the
kernel, im using a 2.5.9 kernel... in this case, what exactly do i need
to delete? i installed alsa-driver/utils/libs/et al for alsa 0.9.x (the
latest version of alsa as of about 3 months ago, cant remember which one
it was)... did i need to do that, or is it built in to the kernel?....
maybe im confusing my kernel....
many thanks again
bw
miriam
