while i've been following the 'best audio distribution'... and noticed brian redfern's
comments on great linux sound on a laptop...

thought i might ask again about my laptop problems...
im running mandrake 8.2 on a thinkpad 600E....

i've read just about everything on getting sound happening but so far nothing seems
to be working...

having narrowed it down, it looks like ALSA and the soundcard are loading fine at startup
(i get Loading sound module [sndcard] [OK] ) and when i do lsmod all the ALSA modules are there.

but cat /proc/interrupts doesn't show my sound device.

pretty weird huh?...

i'm also having this problem on my desktop machine although i'd originally assumed it
was because i'd crammed it full of devices. but now i'm wondering if its a Mandrake thing -
it has only started happening since Mdk 8.1 - before then i had no problems (bar a couple
of little hacks i used to put in to /etc/modules.conf get things going)...

any ideas?... please help!
