For loop-cutting I really like Rezound's many loop playing features.
For arranging soundbites in a timeline Ardour is the best choice on
Linux. A more limited approach can be had with tracker software like
Soundtracker.

Neither of these programs are intended to be clones of Acid or Ableton
Live, so you will have to adapt your working style a bit or stay with
Windows or mac for now.

Or you can completely change your working style and use one or more of
the many freeform tools available on Linux, like Snd, Pd,
Supercollider, fluxus etc. to do really spaced out stuff not possible
with Live nor Acid at all.
