High quality DA converters will resample to a much higher frequency
before conversion, and use a analog filter well above the audible
range after it. This means that:

- you resample anyway, even if it is done in hardware,
- the filter response will scale automagically if you
  switch between 44.1 and 48 kHz.

Of course the resampling done by the converter will be by an
integer factor. But that doesn't make it any better than a
properly designed and implemented fractional resampler.
