Hi Jeremy (+ LAU)!

( btw its Dan aka danboid please - dunno why the list doesn't 'see' my name
as it seems to be input in my gmail settings? Anyway.. )

No, I did mean the LinuxVST version. I must admit I've not tried TAL-NM
under qtractor compiled w/ Steinberg headers yet but I have the same
problems using the lxvst plugin under A3 svn as I do under Renoise which
seems to be regarded as the 'gold standard' of Linux native VST hosts. If
you want to see the problem I'm referring to then you should try these
presets:

DR Kick Nuuuu TAL

or

DR Perc Tommer TAL

Then see if the JACK connection to your host (qtractor) survives. These
aren't the only presets that cause problems for me but I've yet to compile a
comprehensive list or even try them all.

Hmm! falktx didn't mention this to me. I'm not sure how well this would work
and I think a proper LV2 port would still be for the best.

I can't say I've tried compiling it myself under a 32bit OS yet although I
certainly do get those dreaded wav chunk errors with every wav file I've
tried when I compiled it myself under Deb Wheezy x64 and falktx seemed
confident that exactly the same would happen if I compiled Highlife under a
32bit Linux- he insists Highlife is plain broke. We suspect the version
available on DiscoDSP has had some extra patches applied by Kunitoki to fix
loading of wavs etc. that never got upstreamed and as I said earlier
Kunitoki has been non-responsive to my requests for info on this.

I should've said - the first thing I need to do is have another look at
composite. I can't remember now if it would only load Hydrogen kits or if it
handled individual, regular wavs too which is basically what I'm after. It
would make much more sense for me to try writing a composite GUI and/or
adapting it to my needs that starting from scratch, for sure!

I tried the Calf LV2 fluidsynth plugin a couple of months ago and it had a
weird bug where when you re-load you session the soundfont is played back a
couple of octaves higher than it should. I told Mr Foltman about it but he
seems to have lost all interest in LV2s and offered no suggestions as to
what could be causing the problem.

So no, we still lack a simple, functional LV2 sampler complete with GUI!

Thanks!
