I didn't use the current version of Qtractor, but for MIDI only, IMO
Qtractor was and most likely still is the easiest Linux sequencer to
use. It has got less drawbacks and is self-explaining. If you didn't
use it for a long time, you don't have to worry about forgotten
handling.

IIRC there's still a seq24 fork under development, but I've forgotten
the name and didn't find it now and never used it myself.

My recommendation is Qtractor. It has got a few seriously weak points,
but is powerful and easy to use for many tasks.

Nowadays I prefer the iPAD's MusicStudio over Qtractor. It also is
self-explaining, has got a few weak points, too, but one advantage is,
that it can be used nearly everywhere at any time. Sunlight is one of
the limitations of a tablet, it's easier to use in a dark crypt. A
version for Android is available too, but I can't comment the Android
version.
