That isn't a very good argument. You really can't compare commercial
software development with open-source projects. A commercial software
project with unrealistic goals will result in a bad product. In
open-source environment, these kinds of projects just die away.

This is a different subject. I was talking about unrealistic
goals, you're talking about organizing. And I don't have anything
agains organizing projects. In fact, this open plugin specification
project would be a good place to start.
Also one thing that could help many open-source projects is that
they'd offer something usable from early on. A project with a fancy
web site, big plans, etc but nothing concrete doesn't attract
new developers and beta-testers.
Btw; One odd thing about linux audio is that so many apps are released
without sources. Slab, Taon, Multitrack, Bcast, Jazz, etc, etc...
I don't want blame the authors as these are all really good
software and I'm glad that they're freely available. I just wish
that projects like Roxen and Qt would encourage more people
to use open-source. These projects have proved that open-source
can be used in combination with commercial sw development.
