Well,

Which would be easier? Making one distro or porting to all the available ones so far?

I think one would be easier for most musicians to deal with and for the suppliers to create. The average Linux music newbie would feel far more comfortable if they didn't have to choose between operating systems designed for network serving or graphics or any other specific task than music. We could save space on superfluos software also. Which to me means more room for recording.

I'm sure that given a few test drives m-station would be completely adjustable at install time. If someone wanted it as a home computer with network ability then they just click the right buttons. If they want it to be just a recording os then they just click the right buttons.

It could become the computer musicians tool instead of headache. All they would have to do is learn where things are kept(the xterm), some basic Linux commands and how to use the relevant programs. If the right software is provided at the start then they may never need to install anything until the next distribution.(Although I doubt I could stop myself)

I think this would be easier to maintain and more widely useful than a whole lot of seperate packages for each distribution.

How old is Debian? They still haven't really provided for the linux music community yet. Same goes for all of the distributions as far as I can tell. Nothing that even comes close to a professional quality music workstation. But graphics on the other hand....
