GUIDO is not abandoned. I just talked to Holger Hoos about GUIDO. He said
that they had been focusing on publishing finished specifications and
software (rather than reporting on near-finished products). Unfortunately
they've gotten behind on the public front because they are all academics,
and this is the busiest time of the year for them.

IRCAM (Institut de Recerche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique,
www.ircam.fr) is in France, and they might be interested/funded enough to
show up and demo some of their stuff, i.e. jMax.
