Howdy, I've been running 2.4.4 GB (SuSE), SBLive (not great but it works) and
messing with every sound app, driver, etc. I can find and have had no
problems that were'nt hardware based somewhere along the line (my brain being
some of the softest hardware I workwith at times but I eventually figure out
what I did wrong) all my drivers are loaded modprobe style at boot and they
seem to be working fine with alsa, alsa-oss-emu, and aRts. Pretty slick
really, I remember having to mess with isapnp in earlier redhat and madrake
installs with a ensoniq (can't remember which one) soundcard.
My thoughts on the problem consider if windows is having problems with I/O
and IRQ as well as linux issues I would probably start removing what I feel I
need least to give me some room and then start moving cards around to
ballance the IRQ sharing. Go to outboard gear on some things if possible.
Even if you did finally get them all recognized, initialised, and working on
a consistant basis, you could very well suffer performance issues.
Personally, I'd rather have little gear working great than lots working
poorly. just my 2 bits
