I think the Matrox G4xx series is what your looking for.
I would suspect newer (and maybe even cheaper) Radeon /
Nvidia cards to hog the PCI bus to get that latest
frame per second in the Quake benchmarks ;)
(correct me if I'm wrong).
I have a Matrox in my computer and it is well supported
in XFree, it is not dirt cheap but it is a bit aged,
so it is not expensive and you get Dual Head for free :)
Not to mention that the drivers are fully open source.
(I hated the random unexplainable lockups I had
when I used to have an Nvidia card ...)
