Hello amorphous cloud of linux audio knowledge!

I am a (semi)retired musician who suddenly turned into a
web/database/security guy. And now I want to get back into music,
multitracking on my home machine to be specific... Home machine is a
SMP Dual P-III with UW-SCSI, soon to be sporting something serious for
audio card(s) as that OPL3SA2 just doesn't do it for some reason.

Now, the first huddle for me is to replace thoughts of Tascam 2" reels,
Audiotron time effect racks, Ramsa mixing consoles, and my trusty
splicing razorblade with, well, I'm not sure yet...

(scratches forehead)

This is going to be a strange and beautiful journey for me, and I want
to catch and document as much of it as possible, in the hopes that the
experience could benefit someone else like me in the future. I'm sure
I'm not the only (er, older) guy out there that wants to make the
switch, and just happens to have a retired linux database machine at
home :)

If there are any kind souls out there that wish to help me convert from
analog to digital, please let me know. Also, let me know if this should
be taken off-line, as I am clearly behind the curve on this one -;^>=
